My son and I had a conversation yesterday as we were driving home from church:
Nathan: Dad? If I were to become a pastor, would I be a 5th generation pastor or a 6th generation pastor?
Me: 5th generation. Why do you ask? What made you think of that?
Nathan: I don’t know. Just wondering.
Me: Nathan, being a pastor is not something that you become because you want to. You become a pastor when God calls you to it.
Nathan: How do you know when God is calling you?
Me: [Long Silence] Um, you’ll know when God calls. By the way, do you know what generation means?
Nathan: [Long Silence] Um, kinda.
